Forte has several exciting things happening this weekend. First of all we have developed a relationship with Yacaman Productions and are shooting a series of commercials for a bank that will be telecast in South America. A total of 5 models and 12 extras will be utilized for this project. We are looking forward to a long term relationship with this company. Of course, Marisa caught their eye and within two minutes Marisa was being interviewed on camera and pitching her client’s product with the client watching and smiling ear to ear.
Marisa quickly put her education to use after graduating college with a marketing degree.

Forte Models: Convention Spotlight: Surf Expo

Surf Expo is an exciting convention that comes to Orlando's convention center twice a year. Surf Expo features more than 2,400 booths of apparel and hardgoods and a full line-up of special events, including fashion shows, annual awards ceremonies, and skate and other boardsport demos. Average buyer and exhibitor turnout exceeds 15,000 attendees including retailers, exhibitors and media per show.
Forte Models has been a significant provider of models over the years and we have worked with over 20 exhibitors. Companies like Bodyglove, Gatorboards, Caviar Girl, Wave Skater, M Haddad Sportswear, Frisky Shoes, DaHui, Guayevada are just a few of the exhibitors we have worked with.
If you are an exhibitor at the Surf Expo please take some advice from someone who has done 10 of these shows in the last five years. There is a disturbing trend I am seeing among exhibitors and their use of models at the show. The Surf Expo used to be the largest most awaited show from a model's standpoint, that came to Orlando. It was not uncommon for models to be paid $500-$1000 a day at this show. However in the last few years many exhibitors have resorted to using 15 and 16 year old girls to model their bikinis. Kids of this age have no work ethic for the most part, don't know what it means to work hard, and have little concept of conversing with potential buyers in an articultae fashion. Why do Exhibitors use these type models? Because they work very cheaply. I really don't get it. I imagine every client takes a lot of pride in their product or services. Using such mediocre frontline representation is a terrible misjudgement. It's like the latest model of Mercedes Benz comes out and the company choses to market it solely on youtube. That's not a slam on youtube. I love youtube, but you get the point.
Models are a great source of advertising when you exhibit at a tradeshow and you should choose wisely when you pick them. Don't pick a 16 year old high school girl willing to skip school for $100 and some free swimwear. It will end up biting you. I have even heard of models splitting half way through the day because they were tired. I correct myself, 16 year olds who think they are models left early.

As it has been mentioned in this blog quite often, tradeshow exhibitors are always looking for special ways to enhance their presence, visibility, and memorability at the show. Forte Models: Let's Talk About Hair Shows

Hair Shows are a fun and exciting type of tradeshow that utilizes our Forte Models in several ways. Typically, there is always some form of runway aspect required and our models must walk a catwalk and show off their new hairdo. There are demonstartion models as well. Demonstration models are used to show cut and color sessions or updo sessions. The Premiere Beauty Show is probably the top Hair Show that comes to Orlando.

There are hundreds of exhibitors and people having their hair worked on every 10 feet. The upside of this show for our company is that with so many exhibitors the chances are good we will have bookings. The downside is that these type shows will hold casting calls and pick anyone off the street to get a free cut and color and some product or $100 or something which inevitably puts professional models out of work. Most pro models will not have their hair cut because it changes their look. We have been blessed to work with several companies that don't require alterations. Martin Parsons, Nioxin, My Waxing System, Paul Mitchell, Scruples, Wella, California Tan, and Mystic Tan are just a few of the companies we have worked with at the Annual hair shows.

A word of warning to models. Do not attend a casting for one of these companies unless you are ok with getting your hair cut or colored. I have watched models sit on a stage and have 8 inches of hair cut off as the model cries on stage. They were told the hair would be trimmed and then the stylist gets carried away. It's not a pretty picture. All in all, the shows are fun and filled with crazy styles, crazy people and loud music. We'll see you at the next hairshow. Tiffany Coburn has been performing for and captivating audiences all over the world for over 15 years.
